Virtual Trauma Art Exhibit Showcase
Layered multimedia painting with lungs depicted. My piece shows how trauma affects us by creating anxiety around simple processes, such as breathing. There is a tension and freedom felt within the piece as the layers play off of one another and make it difficult to see the root of all that is going on in the piece.
Artist Bio:
Hannah Goforth is a Pittsburgh based artist and art educator. She works primarily with public pieces that are created through collaborative art methods and has been teaching art for over 14 years. With a degree in visual arts education from Indiana University Bloomington, she has taught in Indiana, Georgia, and Pennsylvania as well as New Zealand. Hannah finds freedom in her artwork and throughout the pandemic has been practicing art as a form of therapeutic exercise. She also works with several organizations in the Pittsburgh area to provide creative opportunities for artists of all ages, including the Trauma Art Exhibit and Living in Liberty.
